my dad was in the navy- a proud, family tradition from both sides. i love the navy.
however, his picture from the navy left a little to be desired- the shaved head, funny-looking hat, and ears exposed by the shaved head didn't agree too well with him.
my mom finally admitted today that her mom just couldn't make herself put that picture of her son-in-law up in her house, even though my dad was nice enough to get her one.
after hearing this, my brother said,
she wouldn't put that picture up? she has a velvet painting of an owl on her wall!

velvet owl. that could go very wrong.
we have a photo from when my dad was in the....something. but his hair looks a little goofy and my dad explained "oh, this is before i could grow sideburns, so i just grew out my hair and cute 'sideburns'"
