started out with some of the world's greatest roommates
photo cred: amy jo nelson
and then went to cats with my mom (finally met magical mr. mistopheles...)
and then lived just around the corner from this
and then went all over. here are some of the highlights:
copenhagen
stockholm
blois, france
dubrovnik, croatia
koper, slovenia
and a few other places... like venice, amsterdam, london, dublin, edinburgh and belfast.
then school started again, and somehow I'd ended up a french major. when did that happen? from political science to music to international cultural studies to english to history to dance to humanities, i've run the gamut of majors (in the humanities, that is. not much math or science to be found in my past).
i moved into a cute little house with a fireplace and a breakfast nook, and spent my days studying and grading papers for my job as a TA for humanities 202 (best class ever, renaissance to modernity)
then my teacher assigned an essay... and I ended up winning a contest for $1500 and then read it at homecoming opening ceremonies.
ditched provo for san diego for this beautiful girl's beautiful wedding (to the finn we met in jerusalem). couple of the year, these two.
and running around the coast with roxanne. san diego turned out to be my lucky city, what with a stop at lucha libre burrito, a reunion with the sweet pacific, a visit to the museums at balboa park, and a cell phone dropped in the middle of the road and miraculously recovered.
then back to school to write an 8 page paper (in french!), dance my heart out, take some tests, learn some things and read foucault.
then, to new york city. just because. two days before finals started. best decision ever. adorable family and apartment in brooklyn. great friends (who picked me up at 6 in the morning!). adventures in the city. and christmas in new york!
additional post and photos to come
had a reunion with some hawaii friends, always a good time. then a sleepover with best friend spaghetti for some much needed friend-love time (and much, much laughing)
then, finally, home for the holidays with the folks and brother. the best.
merry christmas!
(and thanks for sticking through all the way to the end)
2011, you've been great.
