at 37 rue bûcherie, just to the side of the seine, sits a magical, though overpriced, little shop. shakespeare & co. is one of paris' many little treasures- a charming english bookstore complete with library, nook and typewriter for any and all aspiring writers, and piano.
i came every week to run my fingers across the spines, check the bulletin board on the side of the stairs, and see if by chance they had changed some of my favorite library (meaning that you can read them there but can't buy) books to shop books (they never did).
